1. who is responsible for your information
co.lab is the responsible party for personal information processed on this platform. co.lab operates independently of magos media, from the same registered offices in johannesburg, south africa. for anything privacy-related, contact info@magosmedia.co.za.
2. what we collect
- identity & contact: name, email address, contact number, location, age, profile photo.
- ethnicity (optional): this is special personal information under POPIA. providing it is entirely voluntary — a "prefer not to say" option is always available — and it is processed only with your consent, to match creators to campaigns with specific audience requirements.
- creator profile: content specialities, bio, social platform URLs, follower counts, audience demographics, engagement rates, languages, rates and fees, exclusivity declarations, media kits.
- management details: agency and manager contact details, where you provide them.
- campaign data: briefs assigned to you, and the performance statistics, sentiment notes and screenshots you submit.
- technical: IP address and basic request logs (for security and rate-limiting), a session cookie for team logins, and an anti-bot verification token from cloudflare turnstile when you submit the join form. an in-progress application is saved in your own browser's storage — it never leaves your device until you submit.
3. why we process it
we process your information to evaluate applications to the network, maintain your creator profile, match creators to brand campaigns, deliver campaign briefs, report campaign performance to the relevant brand, communicate with you about the network and campaigns, and keep the platform secure. our lawful bases are your consent (given on the join form or your profile page) and our legitimate interest in operating the network.
4. who we share it with
- brand clients: profile information (including audience statistics, rates and campaign performance) is shared with prospective and active brand clients for shortlisting and campaign reporting. contact details are shared only once a collaboration is being arranged.
- service providers: our hosting provider (amazon web services), cloudflare (anti-bot verification on the join form), and our email provider — each only to the extent needed to run the platform.
- we do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires.
5. security & retention
information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), is stored on access-controlled infrastructure, and administrative access is limited to the co.lab team. we keep your information while you are part of the network and for as long as needed for campaign records; when you ask to be removed, your profile is deleted, subject only to records we must keep by law.
6. your rights
under POPIA you may ask us at any time to confirm what personal information we hold about you, correct it (you can also correct most of it yourself through your personal profile link), delete it, or object to its processing. you may also withdraw consent — including specifically for ethnicity data — without affecting your membership. email info@magosmedia.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable time.
if you believe we have mishandled your information, you may lodge a complaint with the information regulator (south africa): complaints.IR@justice.gov.za · inforegulator.org.za.
7. children
creators aged 13–17 may only be registered with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian, and we process their information on that basis.
8. changes
we may update this policy from time to time. the current version always lives at this page, and material changes will be communicated to network members. this policy should be read together with our terms & conditions.
